Mary and Norman Baldwin
Mary and Norman loved Shropshire since they spent their honeymoon there in 1938, staying on a farm near Bishops Castle.
They lived and brought up their family in Leicestershire, but frequently took family holidays at the Old Brick Guest House in Bishops Castle, and loved exploring the area, including Long Mynd and Stiperstones.
On retirement, they decided to move to Shropshire, living first in an old converted inn in Bishops Castle. In 1976 they moved to Edgton, where they spent seven very happy years, enjoying nature, and village life and making friends. They edited and produced, with other villagers, a village newspaper: ‘Voice of Edgton’ , inbetween their hobbies of writing and painting.
In 1983 they moved back to Leicestershire to be near family, but missed very much the friendship of the people in Edgton.
In 2016 a pear tree was planted in their memory is at the bottom of the car park. In August 2024 Liz (their daughter) and John Moseley visited the hall to place a plaque under the tree and spoke of how much they enjoyed their time in Edgton.
